What Teachers Might Learn From Sales People
Since surveys in most of the Western world consistently rank used car salespeople as among the least trusted of all professions, it is little wonder some people extend that reputation to all salespeople. Keep The Communication Lines Open
To a large part, training is all about communicating. You, as a trainer, have knowledge that your learners need. Somehow, you’ve got to communicate that knowledge to them, in such a way as they can understand it, grasp it and use it. Your communications task doesn’t end there however, you also have to communicate with all the stakeholders in that learning process.

Is There a Place For Training "Products" in a Service Sector?
A common complaint among TAE Certificate IV students is that it has far too much jargon and terminology. Many of those students find the qualification somewhat impenetrable because of that language, and this reduced the qualification’s effectiveness.

Improve Your Communication Skills With The Ladder Of Inference
When it comes to a classroom or workplace, that number is significantly less, but it only takes as little as two people for miscommunication to occur. Two people can share the same experience, but due to their own individual Ladder of Inference, they could draw two very different conclusions. This can lead to miscommunication, misunderstandings and conflict.

Here Be Dragons Advice From Cert IV TAE Students
In the olden days, “Here be Dragons” was used on maps to point out dangerous or unexplored territories. When it comes to the Cert IV TAE (and our other courses), there are a few dragons as well. So, just like the mariners of old relied on maps to find their way past obstacles, we too can learn from the people who have gone before us.

Building a Question-Friendly Environment As A Trainer
Trial lawyers are often told never to ask a question to which they don't already know the answer. That might be true in the courtroom, but in the classroom, that mentality is one of many things teachers and trainers do to discourage a question-friendly environment. Intellectually, we all know the ability to ask questions is a critical learning component. Practically, creating an atmosphere that encourages refraining from questioning and answering does not take much.

The TAE cert iv certainly isn’t an easy course to complete. I had to learn a whole new language and although I was expecting to be taught how to teach, it’s nothing like that - more like learning how best to support our students and to present the information to them in a way they can understand. The support provided by Fortress was really good - I chose the middle package as a safety net just in case I needed it. Initially my trainer was Brian, an awesome mentor, huge experience and very helpful. He left last year, and my new mentor was Richard - again fabulous support, almost always available relatively quickly and able to point me in the right direction. Marking turnaround was typically 1-2 days - shorter than the advertised time too which also helped. I have no hesitation in recommending Fortress Learning to anyone looking to further their VET journey. Many thanks Fortress and the team
Andy Graham
