Great training design is not a compliance exercise. It’s the craft of writing instructions so clear that many different people can act on them—facilitators, learners, assessors, and candidates. Design it!

Even though the world is full of “content creators” right now, to design a course well you must understand how to train or teach it. We strip away VET jargon and focus on designing for learning—drawing on modern adult learning ideas like George Siemens and Stephen Downes’ Connectivism, and classics like Malcolm Knowles’ principles of adult learning. We move from theory to application and show how to create solid training plans and session plans for any subject.

Deliver it!

In this unit we focus on delivery. We cover WHS and why a safe, inclusive learning space matters. We take the ideas and techniques from Design it! and apply them in real training environments, then highlight the importance of gathering feedback—why it matters and how it can make your teaching better.

Assess it!

“What gets measured gets done, what gets measured and fed back gets done well, what gets rewarded gets repeated.” John E. Jones III

We close the loop by checking that learners really understand what they’ve been taught. This unit centres on applying the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, explores assessment methods anyone can use with learners or work teams, shows how good assessment is designed, and clarifies our responsibilities when assessing.
