Every now and then, a graduating student writes a review that we believe really captures what we try to do. Instead of them ending up hidden among the others, we will share them with you, and try to explain why we think they are so appropriate.
Q. What advice would you give to others considering studying this course in this way?
I would recommend this organisation to other people contemplating further studies. I had good support and a very considerate trainer willing to listen and explain and give me the time when I got stuck, every time a single call would resolve any enquiry or dilemma.
Q. Is there anything else you’d like to include?
I was quite reluctant to do an online course as this was my first exposure to doing studies in this way, but I have no regrets and will do more studies in this way.
Like John, many people are reluctant to undertake online study… There are so many valid reasons for this: that the organisation is a scam; that you won’t have support; that there’ll be IT problems; that you won’t have access to your trainer; that the trainers must be dodgy; that it will take forever to get even the littlest question answered; that it will be very isolating and you’ll be left all alone in the vast Unknown.
Fortress Learning works hard to ensure that these fears are not a reality. In fact, prompt, quality responses to students’ needs is our first priority. And, the fact that we are online actually contributes to our quality service and to your learning success. We get to focus on you, only, rather trying to spread our attention around to the other 15 students in a classroom environment.
Learning anything new is a bit scary. Learning, by its very nature, is about moving outside of your comfort zone.
But, as you begin to learn new skills and knowledge, and as you become more familiar with your learning environment and resources, the less discomfort you will feel… Instead, your growing confidence can be quite a rush! Feeling supported; feeling in control; and feeling like you’re on top of things is what quality learning is all about.
Does online learning require self-discipline, independence and intrinsic motivation? Absolutely. No doubt, undertaking an online course will challenge you to confront you – but, how cool is that? You get to be a ‘master of your own domain’; you get to discover that you can take the risk of doing something new and come out on top.
And, as for the actual online training part of it – Fortress has this down pat. Our learning materials are user-friendly; our support is first class.
So, go on – take a risk… Just like John – you won’t regret it.
