With the new TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training on its way, the vocational education and training (VET) industry understandably has some questions – particularly about educational equivalency for those wanting to transition or upgrade from the current diplomas to the new ones.

This blog seeks to provide some answers, as well as a top-level view of the diploma’s new specialisation streams. Read on for the ins and outs of the TAE update.

Is the new TAE50122 Diploma of Training and Assessment equivalent to my TAE50116/TAE50216?

No, it’s not. In the first round of reviews, the Education Industry Reference Committee (IRC) deemed the TAE50122 Diploma of Training and Assessment as not equivalent to its previous version, due to the merging of the separate diplomas and the introduction of specialisation streams.
